ALCCD8L Color Astro CCD Camera with Sony ICX413AQ Chip
The ALccd-Cameras has been developed for the ambitious and advanced astronomy photographer. A entry-level model is the color camera ALccd6C. The chip size is comparable with DSLR cameras like the for astronomy used models Canon EOS and Nikon D.
The difference to the DSLR is, it haven´t the disadvantages of it. The DSLR is made for daylight photography, so it has an infrared blocking filter built in, because the standard lenses aren´t corrected for infrared (unsharpness) and to get a color corrected image. For astronomy photography you will need this longwave light. DSLR cameras can´t register the common H-alpha wavelength (gas nebulae).
The ALccd6C has´nt built in this filter and so it is sensitive for wavelengths form 350 nm to 1000 nm.
Allmost every DSLR is working with a bit depth of 12 bit and 4096 gray steps. This isn´t optimal for astronomy photography. The ALccd cameras have the full amount of data of 16 bit. Here the advantages: At the same conditions you will get a better differentiation between bright and dark and higher star magnitudes and also a better color resolution.
The ALccd6c has a T2 thread for mounting to the telescope, so you won´t need an adapter.
The special construction of the ALccd6C with a moisture trap prevents a freezing of the chip or the cover window.
Because of Progressive Scan you don´t need a mechanical shutter.
Compared to other CCD Cameras this camera has a small and light housing, so the focuser will be less strained.Delivery contains:
